i really liked your idea of doing something with Rap music and how it has evolved in relation to how it portrays women because the topic itself sounds very interesting and most likely you will end up with a great final project. Also, the topic itself is very strong,at least to me, that you can […]

I also had a similar idea to this. It’s interesting to look into other cultures besides one’s own to see what they think is beautiful and compare and contrast those views to our views of our culture

I think this is a very interesting and pertinent topic. I think that self-esteem is a huge issue these days, especially among teenage girls, and thus the relationship to makeup, an attempt to beautify ones self, is very interesting. Perhaps you can also study this topic with regard to age. If esteem/make up use varies […]

body issues is a big topic among adolescent and early adult women. it would be interesting to see how both and women view themselves after maybe looking at ads that we see everyday promoting beautiful men and women, and possibly even the fact that most of the ads that we see are fixed and photoshopped.

Question 1 Goodman’s article really made me think about the approach I take when teaching reading. When we were originally asked “what is reading?” I wanted to say that it is a person being able to comprehend or understand printed words. So my thinking wasn’t that far off from Goodman, however, the article made me […]

Question 1: After Goodman’s demystification of the process of reading, my approach to pedagogy has changed. By listening and participating in our class discussion, I realized how complex reading actually is. There are many parts that contribute to a successful reader and many things that can “go wrong” which can contribute to an unsuccessful reader […]

Question #1 After reading Goodman’s article, my pedagogy towards the process of reading has definitely changed. Students need to be able to do so many different things in order to truly be “reading”. Simply reading the words that are on the page does not necessarily mean the reader is comprehending the story or making any […]

I never imagined all the components that go into reading. After reflecting on Goodman’s articles about reading, it makes me appreciate so much more what is going on internally as students try to make sense of text. As we discussed in class, Goodman argues that reading is a transactional process. I never thought of the […]

Question #2: Perception is how people understand or see a particular thing. Perception is created by experience and knowledge. We perceive things in specific ways because of what we know and have experienced. When we are processing something we can only come to an understanding of it because of what we already know. We are […]

Question #1: After reading the Goodman article there are many things that I have realized about the process of reading. Reading is a process that occurs between the reader and the writer. One of the most fascinating things that Goodman wrote is “both the knower and the known are transformed in the process of knowing.” […]

Question #1 After Goodman’s demystification of the process of reading, my pedagogy has changed by making me more aware of the various components that make up ‘reading’. Like Goodman says reading is a process. He feels it is a single reading process. Within this process he states, “We find diversity within the unity of a […]

Q1. In the article, Goodman states, reading is a psycholinguistic process, which means reading involves both thought and language. In addition, Goodman says, “The writer constructs a text with a meaning potential that will be used by readers to construct their own meaning.” These two revelations caused me to change my view on teaching literacy. […]

1. After reading the Goodman article, and reading his breaking in the demystification of reading, my approach to the pedagogy of teaching has been expanded and deepened in the sense that I always knew reading was more then just the decoding of words and stringing the words together, I always believed that it was the […]

Question #1 After Goodman’s demystification of the process of reading, my approach to pedagogy has changed in a positive way. I knew that there were many components that go into becoming a successful reader. As the mother of a child that is a struggling reader, I am always interested in finding out how to help […]
